Street Ratings
Negaunee Street Maintenance
The City of Negaunee reviews its street matrix annually as required by law in order to properly budget for street maintenance projects. Under the PASER rating system, Negaunee preforms visual inspections to evaluate and compare road surface conditions
This page has been designed to provide information on what methodology the city uses to grade its street matrix (PASER), general information on the street paving project process, an up-to-date- street matrix map (with ratings) and cost estimates for street project, and a listing of our most recent street paving projects.
PASER
The following steps have been identified as critical when managing the maintenance of Negaunee’s streets:
1. Inventory all local roads and streets.
2. Evaluate the condition of all pavements annually.
3. Use the condition evaluations to set priorities for projects and select alternative treatments.
To evaluate the pavement in a uniformed process, Negaunee utilizes “PASER”. This allows the city to properly assess each street and assign a rating tied to specific conditions. With this information the city can then forecast street projects for several years within the capital improvements plan (CIP).
Though this process the city has been able to pave many streets in the past several years. The city will continue use this methodology, being data driven, improving our street network in a financially sound and responsible manner.
Streets that have critical infrastructure underneath them such a water or sewer will continue to be a top priority, adhering to our “dig once” policy.
