Oxcart Permitting Systems

Negaunee City Hall on a sunny day

The City of Negaunee is announcing the onboarding and institution of a new online permitting system. Oxcart Permit Systems is a free, web-based platform designed to streamline the process for requests to obtain permits for right-of-way permits.

“The city found that not all right-of-way permits were being followed up with on a timely basis. This means that in some cases sidewalk or asphalt was not being replaced by contractors who worked within the city’s right-of-way," Interim DPW Director Derek Dushane said.

Oxcart Permit Systems digitizes, automates, and speeds up traditional paper-based processes, allowing for online mapping, payment, and approval tracking. Other benefits include:

  • Online Access: Users can apply for permits 24/7 from any device with an internet connection.
  • Process Efficiency: It eliminates faxing and phone calls, allowing for faster approval times.
  • Paperless Management: Approved permits are sent via email and can be downloaded, reducing paper usage.

“In order to better process applications, properly secure records, and to ensure that city assets are replaced when damage or removed by contractors, the city felt Oxcart was its best option to achieve these outcomes” City Manager Nate Heffron said.

Those looking to submit for a right-of-way permit can find this online here.
