Establishment of Special Advisory Committee on Economic Impacts of Recreational Trails

City Manager Nate Heffron is announcing the establishment of a special advisory committee that will assist in accessing the current physical conditions of recreation trail systems in Negaunee, repairs or upgrades needed, or suggested new trail systems. The committee will also access the economic impact of these trials and suggest amenity improvements to draw in trail users to downtown Negaunee.

The Committee will be made up of seven (7) members, appointed by the City Manager. (1) member at-large, (1) from the mountain bike community, (1) from the horseback riding community, (1) from the snowmobiling community, (1) the ORV/snowmobiling community, (1) from the Iron Ore Heritage Trial Authority, and (1) from a downtown Negaunee business.  

Information gathered through this committee will help assist in providing direct feedback from the various user groups that will help improve user experience of Negaunee’s trails, as well as ensuring that the multiple trail systems in Negaunee will be maintained to a level that residents and visitors alike come to expect.
