Election Precinct Changes

Recent changes to State law raised the number of registered voters residing in a single election precinct in Michigan from 2,999 to 4,999 voters.  The Negaunee City Election Commission met on April 4, 2024 to discuss and vote on MCL 168.661 (precinct size) and MCL 168.662 (precinct location).  As a result, there will be changes coming to the City of Negaunee for the ease and convenience of its voters.

On April 4, 2024 the Negaunee City Election Commission voted on and approved to consolidate our two precincts into one.  On April 11, 2024 the Negaunee City Council approved the Resolution to consolidate the precincts and establish a new Precinct Location at the Negaunee Middle School  102 W. Case Street  Negaunee, MI.  Voting will take place in the New Gymnasium with its accessible entrance and parking lot for our voters’ convenience.  There are two entrances to the parking lot located off of West Peck Street.

These changes are effective immediately.  The next election that will be held in the City of Negaunee is the State Primary on August 6, 2024.  All voters will be receiving a new voter ID card in the mail from the City of Negaunee.  Precinct voting hours (7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.), Absentee Voting and 9 Day Early In-Person Voting will remain the same.  Please allow the State time to process the consolidation and update voter information in the online Michigan Voter Information Center.
