Committee on Economic Impacts of Recreational Trails Appointees

City Manager Nate Heffron is announcing the appointment of seven-members to the newly established Special Advisory Committee on Economic Impacts of Recreational Trails. The committee will assist in accessing the current physical conditions of recreation trail systems in Negaunee, suggest repairs, trail upgrades, and new trails. The committee will also assess the economic impact of these trails and suggest amenity improvements geared towards drawing trail users to downtown Negaunee.

The committee is made up of seven appointed members appointed by the City Manager. (1) member at-large, being Mayor Dave Kangas, (1) from the mountain bike community, being Danny Hill, (1) from the horseback riding community, being Joni Gleason, (1) from the snowmobiling community, being Tom St Aubin, (1) from the ORV community, being Dale Rodgers, (1) from the Iron Ore Heritage Trial Authority, being Bob Hendrickson, and (1) from a downtown Negaunee business, being Jon Becker.  

Upon completion of their duties the committee will forward their findings to the City Council.

“We hope that we continue to grow our outdoor recreation and tourism economy through this committee’s work. Negaunee is the perfect position to benefit further with so many great recreation trails found throughout our community”, City Manager Nate Hefron said.
