- INTENT
The City of Negaunee requests proposals for construction of fencing around or near abandoned mines within the City limits. The project is being bid with two separate options, option A is subject to an engineering study being conducted at this time, please provide proposals for both options.
Option A:
- Construction of approximately 300 feet of Wooden Fencing with wire mesh panels @ Jackson Mine Lions Park. (Similar design as the fencing at Laughing Whitefish Falls is the preferred design, an exhibit is available upon request).
- Removal and Re-Use of approximately 1500 feet of fencing in the Old Iron St vicinity.
- Construction of approximately 4000 feet of fencing throughout the City of Negaunee (1500ft of fencing will utilize the removed fencing from the Old Iron St vicinity).
- Resecuring Mining Adit entrances in the Jackson Mine Lions Park Area.
Option B:
- Construction of approximately 300 feet of Wooden Fencing with wire mesh panels @ Jackson Mine Lions Park (Similar design as the fencing at Laughing Whitefish Falls is the preferred design, an exhibit is available upon request).
- Construction of approximately 3200 feet of fencing throughout the City of Negaunee.
- Resecuring Mining Adit entrances in the Jackson Mine Lions Park Area.
The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals received or to negotiate service contracts based upon mutually agreed upon modifications of any proposals submitted hereunder.
Project must be complete by November 15th 2021.
- PROPOSAL SUBMITTAL
Deadline and proposal opening will be Thursday, June 3, 2021 @ 3:00pm ET at Negaunee City Hall located at 319 West Case Street, Negaunee, Michigan 49866. Due to COVID restriction proposal openings will not be open to the public. Proposals will be received by the City of Negaunee and addressed to: Negaunee City Clerk, City of Negaunee, P.O. Box 70, 319 W. Case Street, Negaunee, MI 49866. All proposals must be submitted in triplicate in a sealed envelope clearly labeled “Abandoned Mine Fencing Proposal” on the outside envelope of sealed bid. The Contractors Name and Address shall also be clearly labeled on the outside envelope. Proposals must be Mailed or Hand-Delivered; email or fax bids will be not be accepted.
The following information shall be included in the submittal package:
- Bid Form
- A general statement of understanding of the work to be performed.
- Descriptions of similar projects performed for other clients within the last five years.
All proposals must be valid for 60 days after submittal.
- INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
Insurance Requirements: Any contract entered into as a result of this RFP will require the minimum insurance coverages listed below:
Worker’s Compensation and Employer’s Liability: per State of Michigan statutory requirements.
Commercial General Liability (CGL) Insurance: Bodily Injury and Property Damage Combined: $1,000,000 per occurrence and in aggregate.
Comprehensive Automobile Insurance: Bodily Injury and Property Damage Combined: $1,000,000 per accident. Includes all owned, non-owned, and hired vehicles used in connection with the services under the Agreement.
Professional Liability Insurance: $1,000,000 per claim and in aggregate.
The successful proposer must provide a Certificate of Insurance within fifteen (15) calendar days after notification of award. Certification must include: name and address of insurance company (must be authorized to conduct business in the State of Michigan or be named on the List of Authorized Insurance Agencies maintained by the Michigan Department of Insurance), policy number, and liability coverage and amounts.
- PROPOSAL EVALUATION CRITERIA
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the Planning and Zoning Administrator, DPW Director, City Manager or a designated alternate.
The following criteria will be utilized when evaluating proposals:
- Bid Form
- Review and selection of Option A or Option B
- Experience with similar projects
- General Understanding
