PRESS RELEASE – Croix Street Project 2018

City Manager Nate Heffron is pleased to announce that the City of Negaunee has secured a $629,743.00 grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation. The grant funding is issued through United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration

The purpose of the grant is to reconstruct Croix Street from Baldwin Avenue to Highway US-41 (please refer to map provided); this includes pavement removal, concrete pavement, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, storm sewer, subbase, aggregate base, and pavement work; and all together with necessary related work.

The City’s match of the grant is projected at $32,458.00. Funds from the newly authorized Streets Millage will be used to subsidize this project. Work will begin sometime this summer and end by this fall.

A public meeting will be held for those that live on Croix Street and for the general public to attend in order to answer any questions, address any concerns, and provide general information about the project, the date of the meeting will be released at a later time.
