Phase 1 USDA Water Project to Begin

The City of Negaunee is announcing that construction of the Phase-1 USDA Water Project will begin this month. The project will take place over two years, starting in 2022 and ending in 2023. Construction will begin mid-August and end late October.

The $5.5M project will upgrade 11,000 feet of water mains, decrease freeze ups, improve water quality, and decrease leaks, as well as, replace road surfaces and some sidewalks. Some street lighting upgrades will also occur, but are not part of the water project.

Carr St. (Oak St. to Everett St.)

Everett Street (Oak St. to Burt St.)

Carr alleyway (Baldwin St.to Oak St.)

Burt St. (Prince St. to Everett St.)

Those affected by this project will be contacted by Oberstar Inc., the general contractor. They answer questions concerning parking, trash collection, and other project related questions.
