Civic Ready Emergency Mass Notification System

The City of Negaunee is announcing its launch of a mass notification system known as Civic Ready. The primary intent of the CivicReady mass notification system is to disseminate early warning and time-sensitive information to residents, visitors, travelers, staff, and businesses during the time of an emergency event.

CivicReady is available 24/7/365 and has been pre-loaded with a verified residential contact database. This residential database is confidential and shall not be disclosed or utilized except by authorized personnel for emergency notifications.

An emergency is defined as an occurrence that presents a significant risk to the health, safety, or general well-being of the residents, visitors, travelers, staff, businesses or to the property. Examples of emergency warning messages include, but are not limited to:

Imminent or perceived threat to life or property

Disaster notifications

Evacuation notices

Public health or safety emergencies

Any notification to provide emergency-related information

 

CivicReady will be used for emergency communications when the public needs to take action. Examples include, but are not limited to: evacuation, preparation for natural disaster, active shooter instances, take shelter orders, boil water orders, missing child or AMBER AlertsTM, avoid the area orders, among others instances.

 

The CivicReady system shall not be used for knowingly transmitting communications that is in violation of state or federal law; shares technology in a way that violates federal copyright laws; circumvents the Open Meetings Act; is defamatory or threatening; is for political or religious purposes; is for purposes of lobbying or solicitation; and or creates any liability for City of Negaunee.
