Budget
Control
The
budget for the City of Negaunee is finalized by the
City Council on the 2nd Thursday each November. Questions
on the budget and/or budget process should be directed
to the City Manager's office: 475-7700 Ext 11.
If
you have any questions reference City policy or wish
to discuss a City-related matter, please contact the
City Manager's Office during regular business hours.
If you cannot call during regular business hours, an
automated system is available for messages.
The
Department of Public Works consists of 23 employees
(07/25/2007). The department maintains streets, alleys,
sidewalks, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, city water/cable/power
systems, City Hall building, cemetery, and various equipment.
They also assist other departments as needed.
The
City Library is also open on Saturdays from 9am until
12pm during the months of September through May.
The
library has six Internet terminals, audio books, videos
and large print books. They also have a summer reading
program and an annual book sale. Call for more
information!
Library
memberships are free to residents of the City of Negaunee
and Negaunee Township. Book donations are accepted and
appreciated.
In
addition to regular police services, the Negaunee Police
Department also provides bicycle licensing, local property
checks, vehicle lockout assists, firearms permits to
purchase for handguns (local only), gun locks and State
of Michigan notary services at no charge. Please call

Animal
Control
Although the City of Negaunee does not have an Animal
Control Department, we may be able to assist you with
at-large animals such as dogs and cats. We also have
live traps available to the public for catching wild
animals such as skunks and raccoons. Traps can be
signed out at the Negaunee Police Department and there
is no fee, providing the traps are returned clean
and in good condition.

Service
Ambulance service to the City of Negaunee can be requested
through the Negaunee Police Department, or by dialing
9-1-1 (Central Dispatch).

In
all of Marquette County (every city and township) call
9-1-1 anytime you need police, fire, and/or EMS dispatched
to your location. 9-1-1 is operational from both traditional
(wireline) telephones and cellular (wireless) telephones.

The
Treasurer's Office collects all revenues, prepares reports
for Finance, and deposits funds accordingly. This office
is responsible for billing, collecting and reporting
taxes for the City, Public Schools, Intermediate Schools
and the County. The Treasurer also bills, collects and
reports Special Assessments and Delinquent Personal
Property Taxes. In addition, changes in tax rolls are
computed in accordance with rulings of Board of Review,
Tax Tribunal & Homestead Adjustments.
The
Utility Billing Clerk processes electric, water, sewer,
garbage and cable television bills, and is responsible
for the collection of these bills in accordance with
City Policies & Procedures, and City Ordinances,
as adopted by the Negaunee City Council.
The
department consists of twenty-seven members (as of 08/24/2009).
