REFUSE DROP OFF & COMPOST SITE:  Great American Disposal (GAD) provides a refuse drop off site for City of Negaunee residential garbage customers to dispose of spring clean up items.  This service is provided on the second Thursday of each month from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.  The regular drop off site is located at the end of Lincoln Street.

Photo identification and a current Negaunee utility bill showing the garbage collection fees will be required to dispose of materials at this site.  Quantities are limited to one pick-up load per month, with a maximum of four loads per household per calendar year.

The compost site will accept grass clippings, sod and garden debris, brush, and tree limbs up to 12" in diameter.  Bags must be emptied and placed in the trash cans provided.

Dumping of compost materials by the entrance gate is prohibited.  Individuals caught dumping in this area will be fined.

  • Age 60 years old or older
  • Unable to vote without assistance at the polls
  • Expecting to be out of town on election day
  • In jail awaiting arraignment or trial
  • Unable to attend the polls due to religious reasons

Please keep in mind you may pick up an application for someone else; however, you may NOT pick up a ballot for someone else, including family members.  Absentee ballots can only be given or mailed to the registered voter on the application.

WRITE-IN VOTING

To vote for a candidate whose name is not printed on the ballot, write or place the name of that candidate in the blank space provided and completely darken the corresponding oval.

If you choose to cast a vote for a write-in candidate, be sure to follow these rules to ensure your vote is valid:

  • Clearly print the name of the candidate you wish to vote for.
  • Completely darken the oval next to the name of the candidate whose name you printed.  Just writing the name is not enough.
  • Do not use the write-in method for a candidate whose name is already pre-printed on the ballot.

SAMPLE BALLOT

This ballot is not an official ballot and is posted here solely for the purpose of familiarizing citizens with the voting process.  An official ballot for upcoming elections will be available for viewing at City Hall prior to those elections.
